One of the rules is Waste management. It might sound simple, but being a responsible citizen by applying good disposal and segregation of waste will help any ill outcome. Here are some tiny bits of basic stuff you should do or know!
Dry Waste
The first thing you can do about waste administration is separate it. For dry waste or non-biodegradable waste, the management is more complex. In this case, there are three categories. The recyclables are plastic, glass, and metal. E-waste is electronic items such as bulbs, batteries, mobiles, wires, etc. Toxic waste is anything along the lines of medicine, chemicals, pesticides, and broken glass.
Wet Waste
When it comes to wet waste or anything like food, plants, or biodegradable materials, consider the composting system. Ask your apartment whether they have an in-house composting system. This kind of treatment is best for kitchen waste, including tea, coffee, fruit, vegetables, meat waste, decayed food, etc. Anything that might spoil and cultivate an odor.
3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, And Recycle
Waste management also includes the 3Rs treatment. The idea is to counter the increasing amount of plastic and electronic waste, which is one of the many conditions impacting the earth's health. With that, administering the 3R in apartment communities will encourage the green initiative. This movement is to reduce the waste you produce, reuse waste by donating, and recycle items.
Starting your waste administration
1. Separate The waste and keep it clean.
Start by making a separate waste bin at your house. You can buy one or two bins to divide the wet and dry excess. To keep it simple, color them differently. So you can distinguish the type of disposal. It is also best to use garbage covers or bags to avoid leakage and spilling.
You can also maximize the waste cover or bag to keep the environment clean by using different garbage bags. You can discard sanitary waste wrapped in paper, separate sharp or toxic objects in a polythene cover, wash off the food item from the wrapper or container, and regularly dispose of the waste (no more than once a day). That is the first waste management thing to do.
2. Consider Recycling Kitchen Waste
Do you produce a lot of kitchen waste? Try to consider reusing the waste to recycle it into other functional items. One of the best solutions is to recycle them into compost for organic fertilizer. It will work well for fruit or food waste. Take a look around your apartment for a recycling community or service.
3. Prefer Reusable Bags Or Container
Reuse your items if possible. If you are a creative individual, an old card box or some other reusable material can be turned into a new product. Take the example of an old plastic bag or piece of fabric. Recycle it and make a bag from it. It is also worth investing in some reusable materials for daily use, such as bags or containers. Or you can simply reuse the plastic bag for different purposes as part of a waste management solution.
There is nothing wrong with incorporating good waste administration. The key is to separate daily household waste from other waste types for easier disposal or recycling. Starting the management process does not require complex steps. Start with providing separate bins, using garbage covers, separating the waste, and considering reusable items.
