- Explore the district of the Old Town
This option is for those of you feeling adventurous! Kota Tua is the old town district of Jakarta and it is full of charm. You can easily join a guided bicycle tour of this region if you prefer, as it has beautiful architecture and the tour will stop at the main attractions. Most of the museums can be found In Fatahillah Square, where you will find the Jakarta History Museum (Museum Sejarah Jakarta), the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics (Museum Seni Rupa dan Ceramic) and the Puppet Museum (Museum Wayang). The traditional art, prints, textiles and tapestries of the region are unique and fascinating and you will be immersed for hours by the beauty! - Check out the contemporary art scene
If you would rather spend some time strolling around at a slower pace, the Indonesian art scene provides a range of galleries. We would recommend the Art:1 Museum, which has pioneered the Indonesian gallery business and houses modern and contemporary exhibitions. It is open daily, including on public holidays and costs between Rp 100,000- 150,000 for your ticket. - Enjoy a film at an Independent Cinema
Kineforum is the name of this delightful independent cinema, and it definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of film and would like to spend some time relaxing! They pride themselves on playing older and less mainstream movies for their viewers. You do not need to book your tickets, simply turn up early and they will give you a ticket. Please not you cannot get more than one ticket per person, they have to see the individuals to give them one ticket each, so make sure all of your party are with you! You are asked to make a donation of Rp 20,000, unless another price is stated. - Go on an expedition to the Mangrove forest!
Feeling a little overwhelmed by the city? Connecting with nature does wonders for the mind, so why not venture out to the Mangrove Forest? This is in the Pantai Indah Kapuk area, North of Jakarta. You will not be disappointed as you explore the delights of the forest and witness the exceptional mangrove trees! You can also rent a boat and explore via the water, getting up close and personal with the trees and wildlife. You can even personally plant a mangrove sapling, so you will feel good that you have contributed to the gorgeous forest in some way!
