Now that most of us are staying at home because of quarantine and social distancing, it also means that a lot of us are working from home and have an ample amount of time in our hands. The best thing we can do with all this free time is to work on home projects that can add value not only to us, but also to our home; and examples of some projects that can be worked on will be elaborated further.
The most popular and most obvious project that people can start working on is to declutter their personal spaces at home - whatever safe space means to you in the context of your house. This will be a very valuable and meaningful project because majority of our time is spent at home, and keeping it clean and tidy will help us have a stress-free environment. The best strategy to be able to start decluttering is by listing down every single room at home and identify the specific areas that need to be cleared; this will be helpful if you become as specific a possible, for example identify the space under your bed, or the shelf on top of your closet. This will be super effective in motivating you to efficiently focus on one area at a time.
The next project can be about remembering the household tasks that you've been putting off for a year now like hanging additional shelves on the wall, or replacing the busted light bulb of your nightstand. Whatever it is that hasn't been completed because of the busy schedule, now is the time to accomplish those and you don't even have to dedicate a long time for that, it will probably just take one whole day to do these things.
Another project that can be completed is to look for furniture at home that needs to be fixed; some of the best candidates for these repair and touch up are the wooden pieces such as chairs, bookshelves, and chairs. Another tip for touching up furniture is to buy tools that can really help in making this project more effective like touch-up pens . This will be a good project to focus on because it doesn't have to be expensive, but it will make priceless improvements on how you feel most of the time inside your home.
Now that people have a lot of time on their hands, another project that can be accomplished is to get crafty and write hand-written cards to people whom you haven't spoken in a while, but still care so much about. This is a very stress-relieving activity that will help you kill time if you just want to have an outlet now that all our activities have been limited by our current situation.
Staying at home is like watching the seasons change, so what better way to spend your time on than preparing for the next season which is spring. And it would be a good chance to prepare by changing the bed sheets, clean the windows, add and change the decorations at home; at least when this season is over, everything will be ready when the new season comes.
The last project that we can spend time on now that we're at home, it would also be a good thing to clean the pantry and make sure that there are no spoiled food inside the fridge. This can be done more efficiently if you empty out your pantry and fridge first before sorting out the food that you still have; and when you find expired food, then now is the perfect time to throw these out and make sure that everything that we're eating now is healthy and fresh.
With all these projects, hopefully everything will be so much easier to endure while we all stay at home and wait out whatever this pandemic will bring us in the future.
