10 Easy DIY Tips to get your kitchen back into pristine condition!
Your kitchen is an invaluable part of your home. It is a space of laughter and joy throughout the year. To help you keep it clean, here are a few tips to get your kitchen spotless with some fun twists!
Taking care of that garbage disposal smell!
Ring any bells? It sure does for us! There is a simple, safe, and budget-friendly way to get rid of food smells in your sink. Try this technique:
1. Cut a lemon into small wedges and place into ice cube tray
2. Fill with water
3. Add rock salt
Freeze and toss into the garbage disposal after doing dishes. Grind them up and viola! Smell the fresh lemony scent we all love!
Does your baking sheet need TCL?
Not a problem! First, sprinkle baking soda over the sheet followed by a generous spray of hydrogen peroxide. Finally, top off with another sprinkling of baking soda. That's it! The hard part is complete--let it sit for a few hours before whipping clean.
Is your oven smoking?
For this one, you'll be allowing the solution to work while you sleep! Yes, it is that easy!
In a spray bottle, mix the following:
• 1/3 cup water
• 1/3 cup vinegar
• 1/2 cup baking soda
Ensuring your oven is cool to the touch, remove your oven racks and spray this solution all over the visible surfaces. Do your best to avoid the heating elements. Let the solution sit overnight and wipe with a dishcloth and soapy water in the morning. Boom! Enjoy your sparkling oven!
What about your oven racks?
Got it! Place your oven racks in the tub and fill with water (enough to cover the rack entirely). Add about 1/2 cup of powdered detergent and let sit for a few hours (the more you soak the longer the time to breakdown those tough grease marks). Rinse and enjoy your newly restored over racks!
Wood cabinets and table looking a bit dated?
Too easy! In a spray bottle, mix 1 part lemon oil to 1 part white vinegar. Feel free to either spray directly on or onto a cloth, your choice! This DIY mixture will create a wonderful scent and give your wood cabinets and table a nice polish!
Crumbs stuck in between surfaces?
Stop trying to get that with a toothpick! Instead, try using your vacuum. The suction power will make your life a lot easier. Try it out, square your corners, and see the dirt and grime lift!
Grime stuck on top of the range hood?
Why spend money on sprays from the store? Save your money and use vegetable oil! Take a paper towel and place a couple of drops on it. Wipe the surface and watch the dirt and grime lift! It's that simple!
Dirty water sitting in your dishwasher?
We are about to let you in a little secret... To get the sparkle back into your dishwasher walls, make some Tang (Yes, the fruity powdered juice!) and pour directly into the base of your empty dishwasher. Run your dishwasher for a full cycle and get your shine back!
What about the range hood filter?
This is an area we always forget about. The grease build-up is nasty, and it needs your attention! Try this:
• Boil water and add 1/2 cup of baking soda (gradually)
• Soak the filter in the pot (it probably won't fit, so it by section)
Be careful when turning the filter, it is hot!. This will melt all the particles and grease right off!
The disposal guard needs attention too!
The final touch, like the others, is a cakewalk! Take an old toothbrush and soak into a degreasing solution. Turn the disposal guard inside out and srub thoroughly. You'll be surprised how much build-up is there!
